IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR WEB HOSTING ACCOUNT CAN BE FOUND HERE!

This help file is intended to save you time and make setting up your new web site as easy as possible.

ACCESSING YOUR WEB SITE

You can access your site by the domain name at http://www.'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME'/. If your InterNIC registration is not yet complete, you can also access your web site using your Domain IP address which can be found in your control panel tools or in the welcome letter sent to you when you signed up. Please be aware that it takes 24 to 72 hours for the registrar to complete a new domain name registration.

ACCESSING YOUR USER CONTROL PANEL

You can use either the domain name or the IP number, URL. For example;

http://www.'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME'/menu or http://'YOUR-IP-NUMBER'/menu.

Servers and Domains

support at serversanddomains.com (remove the spaces and replace the word "at" with "@", they are there to prevent this address from being harvested for spam)

Your e-mail will not function correctly and no one can access your site by the domain name until registration or transfer is complete! It may take 2 to 3 days for the Registrar to make the changes and distribute them to the router tables around the world. You can verify the changes have been made by checking the NSI "WhoIs" data base for your domain name as described above.

If your registration is held by a different registrar, such as Register.com you will typically be given an account name and password. You must login to your account at the registrar and "Modify the DNS Name Servers". Some similar terminology will be used by all registrars. Use the information above to change your name servers and technical contact so the registrar can point your domain name to our server for hosting.

Until the domain name is registered or pointed, to follow any of the instructions below, substitute your IP address for your domain name.

UPLOADING YOUR FILES

IMPORTANT: Upload your files into the "yourdomain-www" directory. If you see a page saying "You are not authorized to view this page", it is simply because you do not have an index.htm, or index.html page on your site yet.

Option 1) You can use the "File Manger" program in your control panel tools to select one file at a time from your hard drive and upload it to your web site. Be sure to select the above directory.

Option 2) You can also use Microsoft FrontPage, which has built in FTP capability. (You can purchase Microsoft FrontPage2000 at your local retailer.) First enable the MS FrontPage extensions in your control panel tools. Select the icon and click "Install FrontPage".

NOTE: You cannot use the Site Creation tool when MS FrontPage extensions are installed!

To set up MS FrontPage 2000 for upload click "Publish Web" then put in your domain name. When you click "Publish" It should ask for your user name and password. It will automatically upload your pages for you whenever you select "Publish Web".

Once you do this, go into your control panel tools and enter the "File Manager". Go to yourdomain-www folder and delete our contruction page, "index.html". The construction page index.html takes priority over index.htm installed by FrontPage. It will not overwrite it. When you delete the construction page your index page will appear.

Option 3) We recommend that you use "Cute FTP", which is an easy to use FTP client that works much like Windows Explorer, showing your directory tree and files in and easy to use, "Drag and Drop" screen. Cute FTP is available for download as shareware at;

http://www.globalscape.com/

Install Cute FTP then open CuteFTP. It pops open the site dialog box, if not click the address book in the top left corner. You can edit it directly or click the "New" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Enter a Label your site such as "my web site"

Enter the FTP host address as ftp.'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME"

Enter your site user name

Enter your site password

Verify the site connection port is 21 and Login type is "Normal"

If your domain name registration is not complete just use your IP address. In place of

ftp.'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME"

put for example,

Don't put "ftp." in front of the IP address!

SETTING UP YOUR E-MAIL PROGRAM

Open Webmail is an Internet Browser based E-mail program that lets you send and receive E-mail from any computer connected to the Internet. To access Open Webmail you must first set up your E-mail addresses from inside your control panel tools (see below). Once you have done this you can access Open Webmail by typing your domain name with /webmail/ after your URL. For Example;

http://www.'your-domain-name'/webmail/

For access to each mail box enter the E-mail name and E-mail password. Your control panel tools password is the initial password for your "Username" E-mail box.

You can also use E-mail programs such as Eudora, Outlook or Outlook Express. For example; to set up your E-mail with Outlook Express to send and retrieve follow these instructions;

In Outlook Express go to "Tools" => "Accounts" select "Add" => "Mail"
Type in your display name, or business name = "the name you want people to see"
Enter your email address POP mail account = kiminey@'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME'
Incoming mail server = mail.'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME' or just 'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME'
SMTP server = use your local ISP's mail server
(look in your existing ISP E-mail account properties for the existing SMTP server)
Password = enter your new E-mail password

This will get you started with the first of your mailboxes, which is already set up. To enter new E-mail addresses for your site simply select the "Mail Manager" icon in the control panel tools. Select "New Address" and enter the name and user password. The set up the mail box, forwarding or autoresponder for that users address. All of your POP mailboxes are setup in the same manner.

Incidentally, you will receive "all" incoming e-mail addressed to ________@'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME' by default. This means you have unlimited incoming addresses under your domain name. However you will be charged if you exceed the limit granted by your web hosting package.

Again, your E-mail will not function correctly until domain name registration or transfer is complete.

SECURE SERVER SSL

Domain SSL will be available only if you purchase and install your own security certificate. You can purchase your own security certificate from your web hosting provider and they will install it for you.

BILLING

You will be automatically billed for web hosting on the first day of the next month when payment is due, based on the hosting term selected. Domain name renewals will not be billed automatically. If you choose a monthly web hosting contract, your credit card will automatically be billed every month on the first day of the month. To cancel an account please send an email from the address of your account stating that you want your account closed. Be sure to specify your domain name AND your user name.

If your credit card expires, or is declined go to your control panel tools, to the "Account Management" icon. At the very bottom you will find "Edit Billing Information" and enter your new credit card information there. If you do not have your own secure server certificate please call TJD Enterprises "Domain Payment Services" dept. at 877-592-1394. Be sure to have your user name and domain name ready.

You will find "Edit Personal Information" in the Account Management screen in the same location. There you can keep your name and address information current in the event you or your business have moved.

NOTE: It is your responsibility to assure your credit card has enough available funds to cover the charges for your accounts. You must also verify with your bank that they will allow automatic debits each month, or contract term. If your credit card is declined you will be given 30 days to correct the problem. After 30 days time your account will be suspended and your web site will be taken off line.

If in the future you may choose to pay by Check, Money Order or Wire Transfer using "Wetern Union", all payments must be in USD. Make check payable to "Domain Payment Services". Postal mail or wire transfer payment to;

Servers and Domains

Please send us the "Money Transfer Control Number" immediately when a wire transfer is completed.

Send it by e-mail to billing at tjd-enterprises.com, or by phone 1-877-592-1394. There is a 30 day grace period to allow for mailing a payment. If payment is not received in 30 days your account will be suspended until payment is made in full.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

1) Your cgi-bin has the following path

/home/'USER-NAME'/'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME'-www/cgi-bin

You can put your cgi scripts there. If you put in any perl scripts, make sure you have the permissions set to 775 for the perl scripts to be executable. Also, be sure that the perl path in the first line of your script is;

/usr/local/bin/perl.

You can change permissions by viewing the files in the "File Manager" in your control panel tools and clicking the "permissions" link, which looks like;

rwx,rwx,r-x

(The number 775 refers to the binary bits 111,111,101)

The global cgi-bin (home to pre-written scripts you can use,like the formmail, PGPmail and counter scripts) are available through your control panel tools. Simply copy and paste the example html code into your pre-written FORM web page, and follow the instructions shown there. It is very easy to create your own mail forms and encrypted order forms.

2) To see your daily web statistics go to http://'YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME'/stats/ for graphical statistics and www statistics. The statistics are updated each day. You can also access your statistics from within your control panel tools by clicking the Site Statistics icon.

3) General problems to avoid
* filenames are case sensitive so they must match or you will get a "file not found" error.
* transfer perl scripts and text files as ASCII text
* transfer gif and jpg images as image or binary file type
* MAC users should transfer files as raw data
* if your perl script doesn't work, the two most common reasons are that permissions are not set right
1) either on the scripts or files and directories they write to,
2) or the paths are wrong.

4) Please make sure to keep your account information current, including credit card number and expiration date, off network e-mail address and phone numbers. If your credit card expires you account will be deactivated.

5) MySQL - If you are using MySQL, once you have set up a database, the username and password is set to the one that they use to access the control panel tools. If you change your password after setting up your database, it only changes for the control panel tools is does not change for the database, so make sure you hold on to that original password.

CONTROL PANEL TOOLS BASICS

There are three main components to the control panel tools:
